The Path of Truth

In most cases, people lie for one of two reasons: Either they’re scared of not being liked OR they know what they’ve done is wrong and are trying to cover it up. In either case, the liar is headed for darkness. Prone liars are often so afraid of rejection or not being liked that they will tell one person what he wants to hear and then turn around and tell someone else a completely contradictory story. This way everyone likes the liar and “no one gets hurt.” The situation, however, will inevitably lead to all sides getting hurt. The fact is that not everyone will like you all the time, but that has to be okay, and shall be, as long as you truly like yourself. A major element of self-esteem is living an honest life.

On the other hand, there are those who do something without thinking and later regret their actions so much that they lie to cover them up. But remember: We’re all human, and so we all make mistakes. When you do, become the Warrior: Admit your mistakes and the lessons you’ve learned from it. This will assure others that you’re aware of your own misbehavior, and will not only retain the respect of those around you, but respect for yourself as well. Start here with mindful behavior: If you live by your gut and act thoughtfully, in ways that you know are right, then you can stand behind your actions and ultimately fewer mistakes.

In the end, dishonesty will always be more entrapping and lead to darkness; whereas truth will always be more liberating and lead to light. The Warrior’s Path is a path of truth—a life of integrity and honesty, of right action and the courage to stand up for one’s own actions and beliefs. Therefore, vow to live a life of truth and mindful action. If you have the courage to state your truth no matter who likes you and to admit when you were wrong, you will soothe your soul rather than merely your ego. For the truth is that dishonesty serves the ego, while truth serves the soul. Confidence, mindful action, courage, and truth—this is The Warrior’s Way.
